Day 5

Ok, so my 30 day photo challenge got thrown to the wind like everything else! Yikes, I so need to make time for myself in MY life. I'm going to try to get back on the horse because I would LOVE to finish this challenge!

A picture of a favorite memory

I took this picture as my daughter wrote in the sand at Old Orchard Beach in Maine in Spring 2010. My daughter and I went on our first Mother-Daughter trip. She turned 14 during that trip and it was a very special time for both of us. I taught her how to read the screens at the airport in order to get to the right gates, I introduced her to Nicholas Sparks books, we played cards games, went to the movies, and just talked. We didn't fight, if you can believe it. We left all the frustration, angst, and attitude back in California. It was a wonderful week in a beautiful place.

Day 4

30 Day Blog Phot0 Challenge-Day 4

A picture of your night
My night is a crazy mash of rushing to get the kids from daycare, starting dinner while the kids start their homework, eating dinner, cleaning up, doing a few household chores, bath time for the kids, some loving for the kids, fighting them to clean up their stuff and get ready for the next day, reading books before bedtime, tuck in time with more cuddling, and finally a few minutes for me before I head off to bed. Throw in a class or sport for the kids and some gym for me and the night gets even a little crazier! :-)

This is a picture of my favorite 'lil man sleeping. Every night I snuggle with him and we talk about the day and random things. I so enjoy this time with my son. Definitely one of the best parts of every crazy night!

Day 3

30 Day Blog Phot0 Challenge-Day 3

A picture of the cast from your favorite show:
I LOVE The Big Bang Theory! Sheldon is one of the funniest characters on TV. His mannerisms and brainy yet crazy dialogue always gets me laughing! Each and every one of the characters is

just perfect. If you haven't watched it yet, you've got to give it a try at least once!

Day 2

Day 2 of the 30 day Blog Challenge:

A picture of you and the person you have been closest with the longest.

This is a picture of me and my younger sister as kids. We always shared a room growing up and I think this created a stronger relationship for us. Even after leaving home, we lived together for a few years. As we have gotten older, I feel that we have gotten closer as friends. With so many things in common to commiserate about, it's great to have a sister that will always be there when I need her!

Write on!

I LOVE letters! ANY kind of letters: Love letters, short hellos, postcards from others vacations, new address notices, invitations to parties, school pictures sent by mail, the list goes on. I get sooo excited when I receive mail that is not a bill that I can barely contain myself and have to rip it open to read right away, most times I don't even make it back into the house before reading it.

When cleaning my closet this weekend I came across cards, letters, and momentos from family and friends throughout the years carefully tucked away in photo boxes. As I reread some of the memories, I felt a loss that this artform is almost lost in our tech-savy time.

That's why I knew the 52 letters in 52 weeks challenge I saw on a blog would be a fun one for the year. I have a stockpile of stationery I've amassed throughout the years that is now organized and ready to begin this journey with me. My 14 year old daughter has signed on to also do the challenge. She recently began writing to a friend in a neighboring town and is enjoying checking the mailbox everyday to see if she has received a reply to her latest letter.

So, what do I hope to accomplish with this challenge? I hope to revive the lost art of the friendly letter. I hope to remind myself to slow down and take time to really correspond with another person, to bypass the emailing and text messaging at least once a week to write something more meaningful. I hope to brighten the day of a friend, family member, or acquaintance.

My mind is already brewing with ideas of family and friends that I can't wait to reconnect with! I better get started, I'm already a few weeks behind!
